Christian Kobald is the guest of the Budapest Contemporary program

The third guest of the Budapest Contemporary program was Christan Kobald Viennese curator, who visited Budapest between the 29th of November and the 1st of December 2012. During his stay in Budapest he visited 11 contemporary art galleries, the Ludwig Museum, the National Gallery, the Kunsthalle Budapest, Trafo Gallery, Studio Gallery and Liget Gallery. Besides he had studio visits with 3 Hungarian artists, previously chosen by him.

Christian Kobald studied philosophy int he University of Vienna and art history, cultural history and history of ideas int he University of Applied Arts Vienna. Since 2004 he is the editor of Spike Art Quarterly. Together with Severin Dünser he is the founder of non-profit exhibition space COCO(Contemporary Concerns) in Vienna, what they were managing between May 2009 and March 2012. Besides the exhibitions in COCO, he has curated several exhibitions, like the East by South West (05. - 06.2011, Galerie Emanuel Layr, Vienna, with Severin Dünser) in the frame of the Viennese curated by program, or The Nascent Knowledge (12.2011 – 01.2012) in the Salzburger Kunstverein.
