The Association of Hungarian Contemporary Art Galleries is a non-profit membership organization of the nation’s leading galleries in contemporary fine arts. Renewed in 2010 the Association’s primary objective is to further develop the recognition and prosperity of the Hungarian contemporary art market. Its member galleries are engaged in promoting a wider appreciation of contemporary art and a broader recognition of Hungarian artists.

In order to qualify for membership, the gallery has to be at least two years old, during which it presented a serious exhibition program. Beyond representing and defending the moral and economical interests of its member galleries through the principles of an internationally based Code of Ethics, the Association of Hungarian Contemporary Art Galleries undertakes an active role to enliven communication within the contemporary art scene while it also provides guidelines for collectors.

Contemporary art galleries have a significant role in the Hungarian art scene, as they represent, support and manage artists in Hungary. Simultaneously, they introduce Hungarian artists within the framework of international exchange programs as well as exhibitions and art fairs abroad.
