The Hungarian Contemporary Art Galleries Association is a not-for-profit organization whose primary mandate is to further develop the recognition and prosperity of the Hungarian contemporary art market. The Association has been renewed in 2010. All of its member-galleries are engaged in with the publicity of contemporary art and the recognition of Hungarian artists widely.
In order to be admitted in the Association a gallery has to be minimum two-year old and it has to render a serious exhibition-program. Beyond representing and defending the moral and economical interests of its member-galleries through the principles of an internationally based Code of ethics, the Contemporary Art Galleries Association undertakes an active role to enliven communication within the contemporary art scene and it also provides guide-lines for collectors.
Contemporary art galleries have a significant role in the Hungarian art scene, they represent, support and manage artists in Hungary, at the same time they introduce Hungarian artists at international exchange programs and art fairs abroad.
